Dear Colleagues, welcome to the School of Pharmacy 2021 conference which comes this year with the title of “Recent Updates in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Scientists”. The conference takes place while the world is going through the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic that made real life rhythm quite different. Nevertheless, research and communication are still going on in a pace that allowed the pharmaceutical industry to excel and develop and get the approval of vaccines in an accelerated manner.
The conference takes place over two days and there are two sessions per day, the first session shall cover topics in pharmaceutics, starting from challenges in pharmaceutical industry during the pandemic, nano colloidal carriers, bridging the applied scientific research to the industrial sector and novel topical formulations. The second session shall focus on clinical sciences touching upon the rates of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, antibiotic resistance, and others. The pharmaceutical sciences and drug discovery starts the second day and the last session shall be related to clinical pharmacy practice topics, including the role of pharmacists in addiction treatment in Jordan to oral contraceptives and much more. By the end of each day, posters will be presented online by postgraduate students and academics from different Jordanian Universities. All accepted abstracts are eligible for publication at the Jordan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Scopus indexed.
The speakers are mostly researchers and educators from different pharmacy schools and private sectors in Jordan, USA and other countries. They range from fresh young scientists to more experienced full professors. Their updated research work from one side and experience from the other, shall enrich the conference and allow the startup of newer innovative ideas.
The conference shall be blended, taking place at the University of Jordan while broadcasted via zoom and the School of Pharmacy Facebook page. Hopefully, this will allow the opportunity for national and international practicing pharmacists, educators, postgraduates, trainees, students and delegates to take part in this event and share their experiences and network with a variety of specialists in their respective fields. The conference is accredited with 3 CPD hours from the Jordanian Pharmaceutical Association.
My sincere thanks to the organizing committee for their challenging work through these hard times and their persistence to come out with the best setting for the conference. We are proud to be with you from Amman, the heart of the Jordan, celebrating this year the centennial of the foundation of the Kingdom.
Finally, I hope that this epidemic situation will come to an end in the nearest future and then we can all resume our events normally.
